Portugal offers a distinctive environment for whisky maturation. Regional climate differences, a long cooperage tradition and access to casks influenced by Port, Madeira, Moscatel and other wines create a broad field for craftsmanship and scientific study.

FROM GRAIN TO SPIRIT
How whisky is made
Whisky begins with cereals. Starch is converted into fermentable sugars, yeast creates alcohol, the fermented wash is distilled and the resulting spirit is matured in wooden casks for the period required by applicable law. Blending, reduction and bottling complete the journey to the finished product.
